Recommended Practice Amplifiers ($99-299)
Line 6 Spider III
Line 6 amplifiers
represent a good deal for the money. They are
masters of modeling amplifiers and this little
model does not fail to satisfy. I would have
killed to have an amp like this when I was
starting out. Hard to believe the cost.
Musician’s Friend price:
$99.95.
Roland Micro Cube
Believe it or not, of all the amplifiers I own (and I own a LOT of amplifiers), this little beast gets more use than any of them. It sounds great, is inexpensive, and runs on 6 AA batteries as well as AC power. I recommend this model. Musician’s Friend price: $125.00
Fender G-Dec
If you want a few more bells and whistles, the Fender G-Dec series is a good choice. It has a built-in drum machine as well as support for MIDI. Not a bad practice tool, and I just may end up with one in the studio one of these days. Musician’s Friend price: $269.99
